SEMCOM receives National Award as Best College for Entrepreneurship Education by NITIE, Powai, Mumbai on 25th October, 2008

SEMCOM bags National Award as Best College of India SEMCOM, run by Charutar Vidya Mandal , Vallabh Vidyanagar, gets National Award for Best College for Entrepreneurship Education from NITIE, Mumbai which runs Entrepreneurship Development Centre. There were around 25 colleges were in the race throughout India out of which SEMCOM is finally selected. Dr Nikhil Zaveri, Director, SEMCOM was invited to make a presentation and receive the award. In the final round two institutions were short listed out of 25 nominations. Dr Nikhil says, “We are indebted to Dr C L Patel, Chairman who has been constantly encouraging us to impart entrepreneurship education in the best possible manner.” Dr C L Patel says, “We need to breed job creators, and not job seekers.” SEMCOM is known for its education in an innovative way. For entrepreneurship education, the college has been receiving a valuable sponsorship of Rs 2 lac from Elecon Engineering Co. Ltd. every year. Best Business Idea Contest is instituted in the name of Elecon. Throughout the year, there are number of workshops, guest talks, industrial tours in the country and outside the country, etc. are being conducted. The college also gives Outstanding Entrepreneur Award to the alumni students every year who have excelled in entrepreneurship. Dr Nikhil Zaveri says, “ We, the faculty, and students are strengthening the entire value chain of entrepreneurship education at SEMCOM by various innovative initiatives. I congratulate all my colleagues for their hard work round the year, and my students for their enthusiastic response. We truly believe in “going beyond the books, going beyond the class-rooms” which is our USP”
